Everett prevails with ease over Somerville, 64-47

The Everett Crimson Tide came out of the gates strong, building an early lead, and racing to a 64-47 victory over the Somerville Highlanders last night. Both teams made runs throughout the game. The Somerville deficit fluctuated from as many as 20 points, to as little as 8, but Everett (5-2, 3-1) proved to be too much in the end.
Rodman Noel led the host Crimson Tide with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Erno Deshommes added a double-double as well, scoring 12 points, and grabbing 10 rebounds, including a monster throw-down that had everyone out of their seats. The backcourt duo of Dequan Lee and Matt Costello, continued their strong play, adding 8 points each. Franklin Salvador scored 23 points for Somerville (4-5, 0-3) in the losing effort.
The Crimson Tide were on the road again this past Tuesday night, as they suffered a heartbreaking, double-overtime loss to Malden, 77-75. Everett (4-2, 2-1) had their chances to win the game in both overtimes, but a horrid shooting night at the free throw line, led to their downfall. Malden (4-4, 2-1) benefited from their free throw shooting, making clutch shots throughout the game. The hero of the night was Malden’s Nate Freni (14 points), who calmly hit two free throws with 4 seconds left in the second overtime, giving his team a narrow two point lead. Everett was not able to answer with any dramatics, and the Malden crowd stormed the court as the final seconds ticked off. Ramon Viches led Malden with a game-high 25 points. Dequan Lee was the high-scorer for Everett, pouring in 20 points. The Crimson Tide also received strong contributions from Rodman Noel (13 points, 17 rebounds), Jethro Auguste (13 points), and freshman Kenny Calaj (12 points). The Crimson Tide return home this Friday night, as they take on the Somerville Highlanders. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
